Implement Dimming Function to a LED Lamp with a Multi-Power LED Driver

Long product lifespan is a big part of the LED lighting value proposition. In order for the proposition to hold, the quality of the LED driver is a critical factor to consider. However, it's not uncommon to find an LED driver that fails to operate after a year or two. Often, after replacing the LED driver, an LED lamp will function as new again. But since most LED drivers have constant current output, sometimes it's not straightforward to find the right replacement driver with the right output voltage and output current. This is when a Multi-Power LED Driver comes in handy. In this video, we'll use a multi-power LED driver from our business partner, IDP Power Technology Ltd. and our DZ1G1TEN, 1-10V Controller, to modify a malfunction LED lamp to a dimmable lamp. Whether it's a Dimmable E27 and GX53 bulb from IKEA (dimmed by our Phase Dimmers) or a lighting fixture that requires an external LED driver and dimmed by our 1-10V controller, it's our intention to show that LED dimming can be very straightforward with the appropriate equipment in place!
[Above] Model #: SC-AD-025W-0A90-A-AV-20 has output voltage from 5V - 60V and the output current from 150mA - 900mA, in step of 50mA that can be set with a 4- bit DIP switch; these type of LED drivers are also known as Selectable-Output Constant Current LED drivers; note the LED driver also has a 1-10V control interface for connection with DZ1G1TEN. In this video, we'll also show how to control the dimming range with the Minimum-Trim option of DZ1G1TEN and a trick to further adjust the brightness with different output current levels for replacement projects. We point out that the most frequent pitfall for 1-10V connection is that DIM+ and DIM- mixed up with the LED driver inputs, which would result in no dimming function. Note for 1-10V control, the positive and negative terminals are not interchangeable and must be connected correctly.
