Besides energy saving, controllability is the next highly expected feature of LED Lighting over Traditional Lighting. However, such a control aspect seems to be missing in daily applications. Since 2015, we've been developing & marketing Phase Dimmers* and related products to address LED dimming control.
Driven by our project field experience, we developed a new type of Tunable White control using Phase Dimming & 0-10V technologies, which gives our Tunable White Controller (DZ1G300TUNE) & Dynamic Lighting Controllers (DZ2G300TUNE_TOGG / _PUSH). It's our goal to lower the technical and costs barriers for different Circadian Lighting or Commercial applications that desire Multi-Purpose Lighting.
* Our 450W / 220-240Vac Single Live-wire Operational Trailing-edge LED Phase Dimmers released to market includes DZ2G450DIAL & DZ1G450CAPS (2015), DZ3G450DIAL (2017), DZ4G450MULT (2018). In 2017, our DZ3G450DIAL was listed as a SORAA® Compatible dimmer. In Q2 2021, an Enhanced version of DZ3G450DIAL has been available.
In this Application Video Library, we shared a number of interesting topics on LED dimming or how our products can be applied in different scenarios.
SORAA® Constant Current LED MR16 & Selectable Constant Current LED Dimmable Driver
To drive LED phase dimming adoption, we’ve been working hard on our dimmer technology to provide a wide compatibility for the many LED lighting products. In the last video, we’ve demonstrated the smooth dimming effect and CRI 95 light quality by directly connecting the SORAA 7.5W Dimmable GU10 light bulbs with our DZ3G450DIAL.
In this video, we’d explore another stream of applications that require the use of external Constant Current LED drivers. Unlike most of the Constant Current (CC) LED drivers only have a single fixed output current, e.g. 350 / 700mA, a Multi-Power (MP) LED driver has the option for the user/installer to select multiple CC outputs from the same driver. While we introduced the Multi-Power driver with 1-10V control before, MP LED drivers that support Phase Dimming (PD) are not commonly found in the market.
In this video, we introduce the 18W and 28W Multi-Power Phase Dimmable Constant Current LED Driver models from IDP Power Technology. We set the output current at 350mA for the 28W driver to drive the SORAA Constant Current LED MR16 to demonstrate the CRI 95 lighting effect again (SORAA Model #: SM16C-CC1-36D-927-03).
Furthermore, we highlight the new location of the MIN Brightness Set feature button for the DZ3G450DIAL; we also quickly show the procedure for Setting & Clearing the MIN Brightness Memory. Therefore, together with the Multi-Power LED Driver, this setup has an additional advantage of being able to customize both the MIN and MAX Brightness for a given application.
Before we end the video, we share that although both SORAA Dimmable GU10 and the CC LED M16 (with external driver) can be connected to our LED Dimmer simultaneously, due to the different startup levels of the LED drivers (internal of the GU10 and the external LED driver), Separate Connection in actual installation is recommended.
